In six decades, this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write to an author. I have just finished your book "The Horses Too Are Gone", and enjoyed every minute of it. Recently, while relocating from Cairns to Melbourne, I met a truckie at an overnight stop and we got talking about the bush. I previously had spent six years travelling around Australia and had fallen in love with the bush, so when he suggested I read your book I bought a copy upon arriving in Melbourne.

Your story was so personal and allowed me to be able to picture the areas you were in. It was great to 'meet' your family. Being a woman, I had a real connection with Sal and the trials she dealt with. Your writing allowed me to be there, to feel and smell the camps, the ups and downs, the fear and to fell as though I had personally met all of the people you shared the experience with. Thank you for a great read."

"I have lived my life on the land & never had the time to read books but when i retired, my wife bought me some books which were all about the Australian outback & i started on a new journey of reading. I am a fan of all writers who write nonfiction books & that is how i got your first book. I enjoyed it so much that now i have read "The horses too have gone" "Wild horses dont swin" & now " Last horse standing" but have missed "In search of the wild brumby". As soon as I can find it in a shop i will also have it. I can relate to so many things in your books that it makes me feel as if i have known you.

Keep up the good work"

"Thank you for "The Horses Too Are Gone," I have just finished reading it, and wanted to express my appreciation.

I loved your characters and felt as though I was actually taking part in your story. The descriptions of the countryside were vivid and conjured mental pictures for me. You have a talent for storytelling, and hope this will not be your first and last book."

"Except for my dog wanting the light out for sleeping, I would have finished it the night I started it. What a vivid account and more so that the events are true only five years ago is almost unbelievable."

Wild Horses Don't Swim

"I have just closed "Wild Horses Don't Swim." Thank you. What a wonderful adventure. Your book gave such enjoyment. At times there were tears pouring down my face at the thought of more damming of a beautiful Australian river and the consequences.

At other times laughter, then amazement at Sal's courage but mostly sheer enjoyment at your vivid descriptions."

The Fitzroy must be a mighty river. Your love of our fine country and caring for its environment clearly shows."
